A case has been registered against four individuals involved in smuggling gold using vape.

The case has been registered against former speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara’s son Resham (Rahul) Mahara, Lokendra Paudel, Dawa Tsering and Tima Gurung.

Tsering is currently in jail for his involvement in gold smuggling using brake shoes. Paudel is a driver who aided in the gold smuggling while Gurung is on the run.

A case against Krishna Bahadur Mahara, however, has not been registered as the police did not have enough proof to file a case against him.

Officials from the Government Attorney’s Office state that additional Chinese citizens have been charged, ensuring they can be prosecuted upon their arrest.

On February 12, during a routine inspection at the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office, 730 e-cigarettes (vape) in 73 packs were confiscated from two suitcases. Upon further examination, it was discovered that the e-cigarettes contained gold.
