Redmi has just recently released its budget smartphone in Nepal, Redmi 12C. It has arrived with three RAM, storage and price options. It is the continuation of the Redmi 12 series, which was recently launched in Nepal. It has been featured with some appealing specs–including a 50MP camera–and will be competing in the budget market.

Design and display

Redmi 12C has patterned diagonal stripes and a textured design in the back appealing to the customers. Its back is made up of plastic and houses a single camera setup with a depth sensor. Along with the camera setup, there is a Redmi logo and a fingerprint sensor for security. The front display has reasonably thick bezels and a water-drop front camera design. It weighs 192 grams and has a thickness of 8.77mm.

It has a 6.71-inch IPS LCD HD+ display. The resolution of the smartphone is 720X1650 pixels and has a maximum reference rate of 60Hz. The brightness is 500 nits and the contrast ratio is 1500:1. It has an IP52 rating for splash and dust protection.

Performance

Redmi 12C has a MediaTek Helio G85, which is a popular option for the chipset in the budget range currently. It is supported with an Arm Mali-G52 MC2 GPU for overall better performance. Normal day-to-day activities and light gaming can be done without any problem. It has Android 12 with MIUI 13 as OS.

It has three RAM and storage options, which include 3/32GB, 4/64GB and 6/128GB respectively. The 4GB and 6GB RAM variants can be increased to 4+3GB and 6+5GB with the help of virtual memory for better performance.

Camera

Redmi 12C has a single camera on the back with a depth sensor. The camera is a 50MP sensor with a 0.08MP depth sensor. The camera clicks good photos during perfect lighting conditions and has features such as portrait, night, video, 50MP mode, time-lapse, movie frame, HDR and Google lens. The video resolution from the camera is 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 30fps.

The front camera includes a 5MP sensor, which clicks decent selfie photos and videos.

Battery and others

Redme 12C contains a 5000mAh battery, which can be charged using a 10W charger you get in the box. The sensors include an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor and an accelerometer.

The ports on it include a micro-USB port, a combined sim and SD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is available in four colour options: matte black, royal blue, mint green and lavender purple.

Redmi 12C is available in three options in Nepal. The 3/32GB variant costs Rs 13,499, the 4/64GB variant costs Rs 14,499 and the 6/128GB one costs Rs 16,999.
