Oppo launches Oppo A57 in Nepal, but its popularity among users is difficult to predict

Oppo A57 is officially launched in Nepal. The low mid-range smartphone from Oppo has been released along with Oppo A77, another mid-range Oppo A-series smartphone. Oppo has also recently released A16K, a budget smartphone here. Yet, it has not been so consistent regarding the launch of its smartphones here in Nepal.

The newly launched A-series smartphones from Oppo provide a little to no difference in terms of specifications compared to the already existing smartphones from companies like Samsung, Xiaomi and Realme. The fast charging option on the phone may be the only thing that interests the buyers. Hence, its popularity among Nepali users is difficult to predict.

Let’s get into the details of Oppo A57.

Oppo A57 has a glass front with a plastic frame and plastic back build. Oppo has advertised the phone as having a premium 2D design and ultra-slim body. There is a newly designed camera panel on the back of the phone while the grainy texture is also something the user might get interested in. The Oppo branding at the bottom right remains the same. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the phone for biometrics. To ensure durability, the phone has IPX4 water–resistance and IP5X dust-resistance certification.

On the front is a 6.56-inch IPS LCD display offering 720*1,612 pixels with 269 PPI density. The display supports a 60Hz refresh and touch sampling rate while reaching a peak brightness of 600 nits. The display has an AI eye comfort and blue light reduction feature, which should provide a comfortable viewing experience and reduce eye strains while using the device.

Cameras

Nothing much on the camera section as Oppo A57 only has a standard setup of dual camera sensors on the back and a single sensor on the front. A 2MP mono sensor accompanies the main 13MP camera on the back. On the front, residing on the waterdrop notch is an 8MP selfie shooter that has an HDR feature.

The camera modes include night, video, photo, portrait, time-lapse, pro, pano, and sticker (not supported on the 3GB RAM variant). For video, both the front and the back camera on the phone are capable of capturing 1080p resolution up to 30fps.

For storage, Oppo A57 comes with 4GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage. The user can further expand the storage by 1TB with a microSD card. The RAM storage on the phone can also be expanded up to 4GB. This feature will help start the apps and swap between them faster and smoother.

Battery life, connectivity and others

Oppo A57 features a 5,000mAh non-removable li-po battery. An interesting addition to the phone is the 33W super VOOC charger. The company has advertised that 50 per cent of the battery can be charged in just 30 minutes. Moreover, charging it for 15 minutes, one can use it for video calls for over four hours. Similarly, a fully charged battery can also provide up to 12 days of standby time.

Oppo A57 supports dual sims and only the 4G variant has been launched in Nepal. It supports dual-band wifi and has Bluetooth 5.3 low energy for wireless pairing with other devices. The phone uses USB Type-C for charging and wired connectivity. There are dual speakers on Oppo A57 for audio and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a super volume mode that helps to levitate its sound up to 100 per cent.

The price of Oppo A57 is Rs 23,499 for the single 4/64GB variant.
