Nepal Covid-19 tally: 10,254 new cases, 708 recoveries, 16 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,016,845 as of Saturday afternoon.

The ministry said 10,254 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 14.462 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 8,212 returned positive. Likewise, 5,725 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 2,042 tested positive.

Of total tests, 56.78 per cent of the PCR and 35.66 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 50.79 per cent.

As of today, there are 72,862 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,601 are hospitalised, 210 in intensive care units and 37 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 708 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 16 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 820,283 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,651 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 90.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 196,857 people were vaccinated today.
