Lumbini CM Kul Prasad KC wins vote of confidence

Kathmandu, August 23

Lumbini Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC has won the vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly meeting in Butwal on Monday.

KC, who was appointed the chief executive of the province with the support of 42 lawmakers on August 12, was required to obtain the vote in 30 days as per the constitution.

KC’s predecessor Shankar Pokhrel’s CPN-UML, however, had boycotted the meeting today. For the past few days, the UML has been demanding the assembly remove two lawmakers who defected to the Maoist Centre from the UML as the party recommendation.

Hence, no vote was cast against KC today. He secured 42 votes, just one more than requirement in the 80-member legislative.

All parties except the UML have supported KC.
