Chinese man held for ATM hacking in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, March 31

Police in Kathmandu have arrested a Chinese national for allegedly hacking an ATM and illegally withdrawing cash.

The 29-year-old man was arrested at Thamel of Kathmandu by a team mobilised by the Metropolitan Police Circle in Darbarmarg and the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu. The law enforcers say they were given a tip-off that had hacked the machine owned by Mega Bank at Jyatha of Thamel.

Police say they confiscated four mobile sets, 10 keys, 10 ATM cards, Yuan 2,300, USD 65, and NRs 2,110 in cash from him.

Further investigation is underway.
