Deuba commissions ad-hoc panel to elect new committee of student wing

L-R: Rajeev Dhungana, Manoj Baidya and Maheshwari Kunwar

Kathmandu, January 30

The main opposition party Nepali Congress’ president Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday formed a three-member ad-hoc committee of the party’s student wing, Nepal Students Union. The committee has been mandated to hold the general convention of the wing in the next six months to elect the new full-fledged executive committee.

Rajeev Dhungana has been appointed the president whereas Manoj Baidya and Maheshwar Kunwar have been appointed general secretaries.

It has been 17 years since the student wing held its general convention on time to hand over the leadership to the new committee. The organisation has failed to function properly owing to perennial internal disputes.
