NCP students want Basaruddin Ansari arrested

Birgunj, November 24

The student union of ruling Nepal Communist Party has demanded the arrest of Basaruddin Ansari, the owner of National Medical College in Birgunj.

Ansari is said to close to the NCP chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. However, the party’s student wing demanded his arrest as his college allegedly overcharged the students and did not return the excess fees as ordered by the government.

Cadres of the union staged a rally in Birgunj today, claiming he beat up the students who demonstrated demanding the refund last week.

Earlier on Saturday, the college administration, the government representatives and the students had held a meeting, in their efforts to end the tension, but to no avail.
