CAN’s leadership should be chosen through consensus: Silwal

Kathmandu, September 27

Member-secretary of the National Sports Council Ramesh Kumar Silwal has said that the Cricket Association of Nepal’s leadership should be chosen through consensus.

Silwal, speaking at the inauguration of CAN’s special general convention, said that the new leadership would have a lot on their plate and added that there should be no dispute after the leadership was chosen.

“We can still revive Nepali cricket. But for that, we need to work together. My wish is CAN gets the best leadership team possible. And I know they will work hard to help in the growth of Nepali cricket,” he said.

Voting for the leadership will take place on Saturday.

After the leadership is chosen, there is a chance that ICC will lift CAN’s suspension. However, CAN asked for transparency within the cricketing body. ICC’s representative Nitisha Kothari said that she hoped the new leadership would take Nepali cricket to even greater heights. The special convention was inaugurated by Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwakarma.
