Kathmandu, December 18
Member of Parliament Sumana Shrestha has demanded the immediate public release of the investigation report on Tribhuvan University (TU) land. Speaking at a meeting of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Shrestha called for the report by the high-level committee to be disclosed without delay.
She also urged the Prime Minister, who holds the position of Chancellor of TU, to participate in discussions regarding the matter. “When Ashok Rai was Education Minister, the current minister and I were also MPs. At that time, we urged the Chancellor to discuss higher education issues. Now, the Chancellor must be invited to deliberate on the investigation report about TU’s land,” Shrestha said.
The high-level committee formed by the Nepal government to investigate TU land has already submitted its report. However, the Prime Minister has been accused of stalling by proposing the formation of another committee instead of releasing and implementing the findings.
“Why avoid making the high-level committee’s report public and talk about forming another committee? Is it to assign the investigation to party-affiliated individuals?” Shrestha questioned.
