Janakpur Bolts have won the inaugural edition of the Nepal Premier League. The team won the game by five wickets. In a high-scoring game, Lahiru Milantha scored 87 runs to help them chase down the target of 187 runs set by Sudurpaschim Royals.
Previously, in the league stage and qualifiers, Janakpur Bolts had lost to Sudurpaschim Royals. However, they retaliated in the finals and emerged as champions. In the pre-match conference, Janakpur Bolts’ captain, Aasif Sheikh, stated that the team would perform better in the finals. True to his words, they played well and won the title.
Lahiru Milantha of Janakpur Bolts played exceptionally well, leading the team to victory in the final. He scored 87 runs off 49 balls, including 9 fours and 4 sixes. Captain Aasif Sheikh and Milantha built a partnership of 76 runs. Sheikh contributed 33 runs off 19 balls, featuring 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Scott Kuggeleijn, Dipendra Singh Airee, Saif Zaib and Ishan Pandey of Sudurpaschim Royals each took a single wicket in the final.
Sudurpaschim Royals won the toss and chose to bat, scoring 184 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Their opener, Saif Zaib, scored 69 runs off 43 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. The other opener, Binod Bhandari, contributed 41 runs off 31 balls, featuring 1 four and 3 sixes.
Although the openers of Sudurpaschim Royals performed well, the middle and lower order failed to deliver. Sudurpaschim lost five wickets in the final two overs.
Kishor Mahato and Mohammad Mohisin of Janakpur Bolts each took three wickets. Lalit Rajbanshi of Janakpur Bolts delivered an economical spell, taking 1 wicket for just 15 runs, including 1 maiden, in his 4 overs.
