Hero MotoCorp Nepal has officially launched the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V and the Hero Xtreme 125R in Nepal. Hero unveiled the 160R 4V and the 125R alongside the Hero Xpulse 200 4V Pro at the NADA Auto Show 2024. CG Motors, the authorised distributor of Hero MotoCorp, in an official event on 12 December. The Xtreme 160R has two versions: 2 valve and 4 valve. The options differ on the engine valve configuration; as in the name, the 160R 2V has 2 valves, whereas the 160R 4V has 4 valves. This makes a difference in the engine power and performance.

The Xtreme 160R 4V will compete against other bikes like the Honda Hornet 2.0, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar N160, Yamaha FZ FI V3 BS6 Standard, and the Suzuki Gixxer 155 in the same price and engine segment. The aggressive design and performance-orientated specs as a daily commuter have catered to young and first-time riders.

Design

The design of the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V is more aggressive with the mask-type LED headlights. The LED DRLs are at the end of the top portion of the headlights, which gives an aggressive, eye-like design. The LED indicators stick out of the headlights. The front of the bike looks muscular with the updated golden USD forks giving the bike more character.

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V features a more muscular appearance from the side, thanks to its enhanced side fairings and slightly updated fuel tank design. The new graphics further elevate its striking appeal. The Matte Slate Black colour option features red accents, adding a stealthy and sporty vibe, while the Neon Shooting Star colour option includes neon green accents for a more vibrant and funky aesthetic. In this updated model, the single-seat configuration from the older variant has been replaced with a split-seat design. The rider’s seat is positioned lower, offering an aggressive riding posture without compromising on comfort. The pillion seat is also comfortable with split grab rails for support.

The rear of the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V features a full-LED setup, highlighted by a sharp and angular tail section. The compact LED taillight complements the sleek and modern design, while the wide rear tyre enhances the bike’s muscular and planted stance. The LED indicators stick out from the short mudguard, which slightly extends for the number plate holder.

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V comes equipped with a fully digital inverted LCD display that provides clear and easy-to-read information. It features a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, and clock. Additionally, the display includes a drag race timer with two modes: D1 for 0-60 kmph acceleration and D2 for quarter-mile performance. The 4V model also offers Bluetooth connectivity, enabling call and message alerts, and comes with adjustable brightness to ensure optimal visibility in different lighting conditions.

Performance

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V features a strong and reliable performance with its 163.2cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled, 4-valve engine. The 4-valve engine produces a maximum power of 16.9 PS at 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 14.6 Nm at 6500 rpm, which delivers smooth acceleration along with proper power delivery. The engine meets the latest BS6-2.0 emission norms, making it cleaner and more efficient. It is paired with a 5-speed constant mesh manual transmission and a multiplate wet clutch.

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V sits on a tubular underbone diamond frame with a box-type swingarm. The suspension setup includes 37mm KYB USD front forks and a 7-step adjustable rear monoshock, which handles rough roads effectively.

The bike rides on alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, sized 100/10-17 TL at the front and 130/70-17 TL at the rear, offering good grip and balance. The braking performance is handled by petal discs, with a 276mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, supported by single-channel ABS for added safety and control.
