The music video Shirai Ma Furke Ribbon by Prakash Saput was released during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Symposium on Uniting for Girls: Role of Women-Led Organizations and Private Sector to Address Child Marriage.
The program marked the commencement of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. The music video aims to raise awareness among adolescents about the causes and consequences of child marriage. It highlights the social, economic, and health challenges faced by teenagers who choose to marry early.
Produced by SDG Studio and Galbandi Production with support from UNICEF and UNFPA, the music video for Shirai Ma Furke Ribbon features the contributions of singer/songwriter Prakash Saput, who conceptualized, wrote, and composed the song. Saput also lent his voice to the track.
During the event, speakers underscored the importance of using culturally relevant and locally grounded materials to combat child marriage.
They expressed hope that the music video of Shirai Ma Furke Ribbon would serve as an impactful tool in raising awareness among adolescents and communities about the adverse effects of child marriage. The symposium was jointly organized by Zonta, Ncell Foundation, UNFPA, and UNICEF Nepal.
