Body of missing tourist in Langtang found

The body of a foreign tourist who had gone missing in the Lirung area of Langtang has been found.

Chief of the District Police Office, Rasuwa, Keshav Bhattarai, stated that the body of 34-year-old Slovakian tourist Andrez Husurka, who had been missing for two weeks while trekking, was discovered on the third aerial search attempt. Husurka, bearing passport number 8915028, was located by a rescue team led by Senior Captain Bibek Khadka. The body was found in a 30-meter-deep gorge in the Lirung mountain region at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level.

The body has been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for a post-mortem examination.

Mareck Holesek, a 50-year-old Czech national with passport number 4615633091, who had been trekking with Husurka, reestablished contact last week.

Police are investigating whether the minimum safety criteria were met for sending the tourists into the mountains. The pair had arranged their trek through Kathmandu Trekking Company in Thamel, Kathmandu.
