Redmi has launched its popular budget smartphone; the Redmi 14C in Nepal. The smartphone is the successor of last year’s Redmi 13C which has dominated the budget smartphone category under the Rs 20,000 budget.

The 14C has been redesigned from the 13C with a new camera module and a slightly larger display. Alongside the display and design, the 14C has upgrades in display features, such as chipset, OS, selfie camera, and Bluetooth from the 13C.

With the budget category being one of the most popular options in Nepal; the 14C is sure to be a competitor in the price range against the Samsung A06, Honor X6 and the Vivo Y03. Let us see what the smartphone delivers in terms of specifications.

Design and Display

The Redmi 14C has a new design on the back. It now has a circular camera module in the centre instead of a square module on the left of the Redmi 13C. The camera module has two lenses on the right and left sides, whereas the top includes the flash.

The back of the 14C comprises glass for the Midnight Black and the Dreamy Purple colour options. The Sage Green colour option has a vegan leather back for a premium feel. The frame on the other hand is made up of plastic and has a metal-like finish.

The display of the Redmi 14C is slightly larger than the 13C. The display has thick bezels which is common in the price range. It features a 6.88-inch display with a resolution of 1640 x 720, with a pixel density of 260 ppi. It supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling. The display has a typical brightness of 450 nits and up to 600 nits in high-brightness mode. It has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and supports 16.7 million colours, the display covers 70% of the NTSC colour gamut. It also includes TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light and flicker-free viewing, along with DC dimming for eye comfort.

Performance and Storage

The Redmi 14C is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra chipset, featuring an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz. The chipset with the CPU configuration has ample power and performance for everyday tasks and slight gaming. It also includes a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, which handles graphics performance. It runs on HyperOS, which is based on Android 14.

The Redmi 14C is available in three memory options; 4GB RAM paired with 128GB storage, 6GB RAM paired with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM paired with 256GB storage. The smartphone also has a dedicated MicroSD card slot of up to 1TB.

Camera

The Redmi 14C is equipped with a dual camera setup a 50MP rear camera that features a 5P lens and an f/1.8 aperture, providing detailed photos. The 14C has a slight change in the camera system with the replacement of the macro lens with the depth sensor. It supports various shooting modes, including HDR, Night mode, Portrait mode, and a dedicated 50MP mode for high-resolution images. The camera also offers a time-lapse feature. As for video recording, it supports 1080p and 720p at 30fps.

On the front, the phone has a 13MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera supports HDR, Portrait mode and Night mode. For video, it supports both 1080p and 720p recording at 30fps.

Battery and Others

The Redmi 14C is powered by a 5160 mAh battery giving long-lasting usage throughout the day. It supports 18W wired charging, allowing for quick recharge.

For connectivity, the phone offers dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.4 for faster wireless connections. It supports LTE and features dual SIM slots. For audio, it has a single loudspeaker and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It includes several useful sensors, such as a virtual proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, electronic compass, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security.

The Redmi 14C is available in three colour options; Midnight Black, Sage Green and Dreamy Purple.
