EV Nepal Motors; the official distributor of Wuling electric cars in Nepal has launched its new electric hatchback, the Wuling Binguo EV in Nepal. The electric hatchback was first launched in other markets in 2023. The electric hatchback is available in one configuration in Nepal.
The Wuling Air EV is currently in the Wuling lineup with standard and long-range options. The Air EV has been quite popular in the mini electric car market going up against other popular mini cars in Nepal like the Henery Mincar, MG Comet and Seres EV.
With modern tech and features, the Binguo EV will compete against other electric hatchbacks in the same price category like the Tata Tiago EV, BYD Dolphin, Citroen eC3, GWM ORA3 and MG4 EV. Both the Tata Tiago EV and the BYD Dolphin are competing head-to-head in the electric hatchback category in Nepal. So how can the Wuling Binguo perform in the competitive market?

Design
Exterior
The exterior design of the Wuling Binguo is a mix of classic and modern. It is classic with round and oval-shaped lighting setup and modern with the LED lighting setup on both the front and rear. The front has a bean-shaped headlight with an X-shaped LED setup with LED DRLs and indicators. The front bonnet is curved towards the windshield giving a classy look. The curved edges run from the front to the back for aerodynamics.
Coming to the sides of the Wuling Binguo EV, the curved edges continue for the classic feel. The Outside Rear View Mirror (ORVM) has indicators for further safety while turning right or left. The dual-tone colour theme can be properly seen on the side giving a sporty look. The tyres have water splash wheel caps to minimize the spray of water. The doors and other trim have chrome accents and finish for a premium feel.
Coming to the rear of the Wuling Binguo EV features similar bean-shaped tail lamps with X-shaped LED lights. The rear of the EV is slightly bumped out giving the classic look. The rear glass is wide and curved along the rear.
Interior
The interior of the Wuling Binguo EV is classy with a dual-tone colour theme of brown and white. The dashboard in the Wuling Binguo EV features glossy ceramic and soft synthetic leather. The soft-touch materials give a premium feel and complement the interior look.
The steering wheel is covered in leather and includes buttons for various functions, including cruise control and media control. The steering wheel also has wiper controls and indicator controls. Behind it is a full-colour TFT-connected display. The digital instrument cluster is 10.25 inches wide and next to it, another 10.25-inch screen serves as the infotainment display, showing navigation, media, and other features. The connected display is a new trend and can be seen in most modern cars nowadays.
The climate control on the Wuling Binguo EV is very simple with three knobs below the infotainment display. The chrome finish on the knobs adds up to the premiumness of the EV. The centre console includes a distinctive rotary gear selector and plenty of storage space; 15 in total. It’s well-organized and adds to the overall convenience. There’s also a USB port for charging devices.
The seats on the Binguo EV are upholstered in perforated synthetic leather, making them comfortable and stylish. The driver’s seat has a 6-way electric adjustment for personalized comfort. The rear seats can be folded down to increase the baggage space to 790 litres, providing plenty of room for cargo.
Performance
The Wuling Binguo EV is powered by a 50 kW PWSM motor that delivers 67 hp and 150 Nm of torque, paired with a single reduction gear transmission. This setup allows the vehicle to reach a top speed of 120 km/h, making it suitable for both city driving and highway cruising. The EV has a lithium ferro-phosphate battery that has a capacity of 31.9 kWh, providing a substantial range of 333 km on a single charge. Charging options are convenient and efficient, with an AC charging time of about 5.5 hours and a DC fast charging time of approximately 35 minutes.
Additionally, the Wuling Binguo EV features a well-designed suspension system with a McPherson independent front suspension and a three-link semi-independent rear suspension. It is combined with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels and 15-inch steel wheels with 185/60 R15 tyres on all four wheels.
