Honor has launched the Honor X7b in Nepal. The X7b is the continuation of the Honor X7 series which falls in the budget and mid-range Honor X series. The Honor X series has got quite the grip in the budget category with the new range of smartphones. The Honor X8b was the recent launch from Honor in the premium budget category.

The Honor X7b has major changes in the X7 lineup which includes the Honor X7 and the Honor X7a. The X7b has major changes including dimensions, weight, camera, connectivity and battery specs. The X7b can be a solid option in the budget option with the design and spec features it offers.

Design and display

The design of the Honor X7b is similar to the other smartphones from the Honor X7 series. The X7b takes design inspiration from the X7a and X7 with the dual camera ring on the back. The back and the frame are made up of plastic. The back is shiny and has gradient colours with light-to-dark. The Flowing Silver colour has patterns on the back like a river flowing.

Coming to the front, the Honor X7b has a new centre-hole punch cutout display which houses the selfie camera. The other smartphones in the series have a water-drop notch cutout for the selfie camera. The bezels are quite thin for a budget smartphone which makes the phone look premium. Its display features a 6.8-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 and supports 16.7 million colours for a sharp and vivid look for the price.

The screen has an aspect ratio of 20:09 and a screen-to-body ratio of 87.3% for an immersive viewing experience. It has a 90Hz refresh rate with support for multi-touch gestures, and up to 10 touch points for smooth interaction.

Performance and storage

The Honor X7b is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, featuring an octa-core CPU configuration with 4×2.4 GHz Kryo 265 Gold cores and 4×1.9 GHz Kryo 265 Silver cores for decent performance at the price range. Its Adreno 610 GPU enhances graphics rendering for gaming and multimedia. As for software, it runs on Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2. The software allows for multi-tasking with the support to open different apps for a productive workflow.

For memory, it is available in one option of 8GB RAM which is paired with 256GB storage. It also has virtual RAM support which uses internal storage to boost the RAM up to 16GB. It also has a dedicated MicroSD card slot for external storage expansion.

Camera

The Honor X7b is equipped with a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 108 MP main camera with a wide aperture of f/1.75, a 5 MP wide-angle camera with an aperture of F2.2 and a 2 MP depth camera with an aperture of F2.4, enabling portrait shots with a blurred background effect. It has support for up to 8x digital zoom and a maximum image resolution of 12000 x 9000 pixels. The rear camera offers various capture modes including large aperture, portrait, photography, filter, AI photography, video, professional, panorama, HDR, time-lapse, watermark, super macro, high pixel and smiley face capture. The rear camera can shoot videos of up to 1080p @ 30fps.

For selfies, the Honor X7b features an 8 MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture, delivering clear and decent output. It also can shoot videos at 1080p @ 30fps. The front camera also features like portrait, take photos, filters, videos, time-lapse, watermarks, smiley face captures and selfie mirroring.

Battery and performance

The Honor X7b has an impressive large 6000 mAh battery, providing ample power to keep you going throughout the day without worrying about frequent recharges. To charge, it supports 35W wired charging. In terms of connectivity, the Honor X7b offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac support, enabling fast and reliable internet access on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connections with other devices. For network connectivity, it supports LTE for data connections and with dual SIM support, users can easily manage two phone numbers at a time.

Audio features of the Honor X7b include stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack for a decent audio experience. In terms of sensors, it is equipped with a gravity sensor, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, side-mounted fingerprint sensor and NFC support.
