Honor’s latest addition in Nepal is the Honor X9b. The smartphone boasts one of the most durable displays, capable of withstanding severe drop tests and intentional harm. The Honor X series has witnessed substantial growth in both design and features in recent years. The X9b serves as the latest addition to the Honor X9 series, which includes the Honor X9a, Honor X9, and Honor X9 5G.

The smartphone carries the same design inspiration as the X9 series with few changes. The smartphone also has different specs mostly in display size, chipset, camera and battery size. The smartphone is quite suitable for people who accidentally drop it quite often.

Design and Display

The design of the Honor X9b is similar to that of the X9. On the back is a huge central camera ring, slightly thicker which houses the triple camera lens. It is available in four colour options, out of which the Midnight Black, Titanium Silver and Emerald Green have a matte glossy back whereas the Sunrise Orange has a vegan leather texture. The back is curved to the frame along with the display. On the front, the display has a curved screen so there are minimum bezels on the sides. It has a hole-punch cutout on the front which houses the selfie camera.

The Honor X9b has 360° Anti-Drop Protection. The display can withstand more than a normal drop and scratch. It has a Five-star overall drop resistance certification from Switzerland’s SGS.

The Honor X9b has a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with 1.07 billion colours. It has a peak brightness of 1,200 nits for clarity in bright sunlight. The 19.9:9 aspect ratio contributes to a cinematic and immersive feel along with the resolution of 2,652 x 1,200 pixels. The display also has multi-touch gestures, supporting up to 10 touch points.

Performance and Storage

Powering the Honor X9b is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, built on a4nm architecture. The octa-core CPU configuration, which includes 4 high-performance Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and 4 energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz, strikes a decent balance between performance and efficiency. The Adreno 710 GPU handles the graphics rendering for enhanced gaming and visual experience. It operates on Android 13 with the Magic UI 7.2 operating system.

The Honor X9b is available in one memory option of 12GB RAM paired with 256GB storage. The 12GB has a virtual RAM feature which can add 8GB more RAM using the storage.

Camera

The Honor X9b is equipped with a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 108MP main camera with an aperture of F1.75, a 5MP ultra-wide and depth camera with an aperture of F2.2, and a 2MP macro camera with an aperture of F2.4. The rear camera supports 4K video shooting and offers up to 8x digital zoom. The image resolution can reach up to 12,000 x 9,000 pixels. The rear camera supports various modes, including Aperture, Night, Portrait (with beauty mode), Pro, Panorama, HDR, Filter, time-lapse photography, super macro, high-res, capture smile and Slow-motion.

For selfies and video calls, the Honor X9b features a 16MP front camera with an aperture of F2.45. The front camera supports an image resolution of up to 3,456 x 4,608 pixels and video shooting at 1080P resolution. Capture modes for the front camera include Portrait (with beauty mode), Capture Smile, Mirror reflection, Timer, and Gesture control. It also supports 2D Face Recognition.

Battery and Others

The Honor X9b is fueled by a massive 5,800mAh (typical) battery. It has a DXOMARK Gold Battery Label. Honor says the battery can last three days without charging and three years of durable battery life. When it is time to power up, it supports 35W wired fast charging.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac on dual bands for internet connections and Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless communication with compatible devices. It is equipped to support both LTE and 5G networks, offering high-speed data connectivity and accommodating dual SIM cards.

In terms of audio, the device features a loudspeaker for clear and vibrant sound output. t has various sensors including a gravity sensor, In-display fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, compass, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor.

The Honor X9b is available in four different colour options; Sunrise orange, Midnight Black, Emerald Green and Titanium Silver.
