The 10th-anniversary event of Redmi, held on November 29, featured the popular Redmi K series, along with the introduction of the Redmi Buds 5 Pro, the Redmi Watch 4, and the 2024 Redmi Book 14 and Book 16. The Redmi K series has gained widespread popularity, especially the K20 Pro, known for its impressive performance, sleek design, and distinctive pop-up selfie camera.
The new Redmi K70 series includes three models, the K70e, K70 and the K70 Pro. The K70 Pro is the premium out of the three and features the new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Design and Display
The design is quite different from the predecessor the Redmi K60 Pro. The K60 Pro was a phone exclusive to China and was sold as the POCO F5 Pro in the global market.
The back of the Redmi K70 Pro is crafted from glass and features a frosted texture in the black and white colour variants, while the blue variant boasts a matte glossy finish. The frame is constructed from metal, offering a premium feel compared to plastic alternatives.
The back subtly curves at the edges, enhancing the device’s ergonomic design. Notably, the camera module stands out with its large square shape, showcasing a shiny finish and rounded edges for a distinct visual appeal.
The display of the k70 Pro has a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera. The bezels on the top and the sides are equal and quite thin whereas a bit bulky on the chin. The display is a 6.67-inch screen with a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440, offering vivid colours with its 12-bit colour depth showcasing 68.7 billion colours. With a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and support for DCI-P3 colour gamut, this display also has support for HDR content with Dolby Vision or HDR10+. It has a very high peak brightness of 4000nits.
The display has a touch sampling rate of up to 2,160Hz and a frame rate of up to 120Hz. It also has many features such as ultra-high frequency PWM dimming up to 3,840Hz minimizes flicker for comfortable viewing, rhythm eye protection, heart rate detection, and wet hand touch.
Performance and Storage
Currently, the Redmi K70 Pro is the cheapest phone with the new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with an octa-core CPU configuration which includes a high-performance Cortex-X4 core running at 3.3 GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores at 3.2 GHz for a balance of power and efficiency, and two Cortex-A520 cores at 2.3 GHz for lighter tasks. The Adreno 750 GPU handles the graphics performance for gaming and multimedia. It runs on Android 14 with the new HyperOS operating system.
The RAM options of the smartphone include 12 GB, 16 GB, or a staggering 24 GB. As for storage, the 12 GB is paired with a 256 GB option, the 16 GB is paired with a 256 GB and 512 GB option and the 24 GB option is paired with a 1 TB option.
Camera
The Redmi K70 Pro has a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 50MP ultra-clear main camera with the Light Hunter 800 sensor. The 1/1.55″ sensor and an F1.6 aperture help the camera capture images. It also has OIS (optical image stabilisation) for steady shots. Accompanying it are a 50MP 2X portrait lens and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
In terms of features and video capabilities, the K70 Pro’s rear camera offers video super anti-shake, time-lapse photography, peak focus, AI watermark, and various effects like tilt-shift, panorama and long exposure.
The smartphone supports 4K video at multiple frame rates, including 24fps, 30fps, and 60fps, as well as impressive 8K video capture at 24fps. Slow-motion is also available from 1,080p at 120fps to 960fps.
The selfie camera of the Redmi K70 Pro is a 16MP high-definition portrait camera. It has features like super night scene mode, voice control photography, timed continuous shooting, and AI-powered enhancements such as portrait beauty and video beauty. Video shooting for the front camera is quite disappointing with 1,080p at 30fps and 60fps.
Battery and Others
The Redmi K70 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery which can be charged using the in-box 120W wired charger. The previous K60 Pro has a wireless charging feature, however, Redmi has not opted for the option this year.
On the connectivity front, it includes Wi-Fi 7*, Wi-Fi 6 Enhanced, Wi-Fi 5, and older standards like Wi-Fi 4 and 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless connections. It has dual SIM capability too. Audio is rich with stereo dual speakers.
As for the sensors, the Redmi K70 Pro has an optical distance sensor, 360° front and rear dual light sensors, acceleration sensor, ambient colour temperature sensor, electronic compass, gyroscope, infrared remote control and flicker sensor.
As for the colour options, the Redmi K70 Pro is available in Black, White and Blue Moon colour options. There is also a Lamborghini SQUADRA CORSE special edition with Green and Yellow colour options.
In Nepal, the expected pricing for the Redmi K70 Pro variants is Rs 82,000 for the 12/256GB option, Rs 88,000 for the 16/256GB option, Rs 94,000 for the 16/512GB option, and Rs 106,000 for the 24GB/1TB option.
