The Tribhuvan University Central Library has commenced round-the-clock operations to provide students with a more accommodating reading environment.
This initiative aims to foster a culture of continuous learning and support students in their academic pursuits.
Sagar Raj Subedi, acting head of the Central Library, informed that the three study rooms of the library are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the convenience of the students.
Subedi said the library was requested to open the study room round-the-clock by the Free Student’s Union. These rooms were usually open from 5 am to 7 pm.
“This will help students who do not have time to study during the day. The students have welcomed this decision,” says Subedi.
According to Library Officer Bijaya Sharma, the library mostly sees researchers and people who work during the day.
“We see around 15 to 20 people daily. Some come in at 7 pm and study till 6 am,” says Sharma.
Sharma informed that anyone who is a library member can take advantage of this service. The membership fee, according to Sharma is Rs 1,000 for a year and Rs 600 for six months.
“Most people say they enjoy studying here because they don’t have the environment at home,” says Sharma.
According to Subedi, acting head of the library, the library will move to a new building next month. He told Onlinekhabar that the library will be moved to a four-and-a-half-story state-of-the-art building that is disabled-friendly. He estimates that 2,000 students will be able to study in the new building.
