Kathmandu, August 27
India has imposed a 20 per cent export duty on all types of parboiled rice from Friday till October 16.
This comes after a surge in the export of parboiled rice since it banned the export of all non-basmati rice on July 20.
With this, the price of rice is expected to go up in Nepal and abroad as India has imposed restrictions on all types of non-basmati rice.
Even though the price of rice has not gone up yet, businessman Sanjaya Phuyal believes the price of rice will go up in the coming days.
He said a kilogram of parboiled rice is currently Rs 78 while a kilogram of long-grain rice is Rs 147.
