Kathmandu metropolis made a decision that forced commercial buildings to provide free parking to customers.

Commercial buildings in Kathmandu will not be allowed to charge parking fees to individuals who avail services from the building.

The Patan High Court has issued an interim order supporting the decision of the Kathmandu metropolitan city.

The decision mandates that commercial establishments such as private marts, restaurants, shopping complexes, malls, hospitals, and other healthcare service providers must offer complimentary parking services to their customers.

Kathmandu metropolis, on July 17, decided to ensure commercial buildings like shopping malls provided free parking to consumers. However, operators had filed a writ petition against the metropolis in Patan High Court.
