Kathmandu, August 21

The gold confiscated at Tribhuvan International Airport by the Department of Revenue Investigation is 99.9 per cent pure. The gold was tested by Nepal Rastra Bank’s Mint Division.

“This is as pure as it can get,” said Dilli Ram Pokharel, Deputy Spokesperson & Information Officer at Nepal Rastra Bank.

Nawa Raj Dhungana, director general of the Department of Revenue Investigation, said he was informed the gold was 24 carats.

The gold, which was concealed in brake shoes, is determined to be 60.7 kilograms.

So far 23 people have been arrested in connection to the case. Further investigations are ongoing.
