Kathmandu, August 13

In commemoration of International Youth Day 2023, Lumbini World Peace Forum organised a tree-planting event at United Nations Park in Jwagal, Lalitpur on August 12. The event saw the participation of over 100 enthusiastic youths.

Observed every year on August 12, International Youth Day offers a platform to honour the qualities of youth and the potential they hold towards the development of a nation and the world.

The theme of this year’s International Youth Day is — Green Skills for Youth: Towards a sustainable world.

According to a press statement released by Lumbini World Peace Forum, Birendra Prasad Mahato, Minister of Forest and Environment graced the occasion by planting a kapur tree (Camphor), symbolising growth and sustainable development.

This initiative was part of Lumbini World Peace Forum’s ongoing one million trees plantation and conservation campaign, which has been making strides since 2019.

The event demonstrated the commitment of young individuals to environmental conservation and global harmony. By planting trees, they contribute to a sustainable future and a peaceful world.
