Dhangadhi, April 23

The Darchula district in Sudurpaschim has once again reported the death of a local following a tuin fall.

For want of bridges, locals in remote parts of the district have been forced to use a makeshift cable crossing, locally known as tuin, to cross the mighty Mahakali river bordering Nepal and India. Many regions of the district are dependent on adjacent Indian places for daily consumables.

Consequently, death and disappearance after tuin falls are also reported almost every year.

While crossing a tuin, Singdal Singh Bhandari, a man in his mid-40s from Dumling, Byas rural municipality 2 of the district, fell into the river and drowned, according to ward chair Dhiran Singh Budha.

Reportedly, he was going to the Indian side to receive his mother Jasoda, according to Budhathoki.

Because Bhandari’s body was found on the Indian side, the Indian border police will hand over the body to Nepal after completing formalities, informs Inspector Gyanendra Banadur Singh at the District Police Office.
