Kathmandu, March 29

The Pashupati Area Development Trust says it has now declared the Pashupati area in Kathmandu, the holy site revered by Hindus across the world, plastic bag-free.

Issuing a public notice on Wednesday, the trust said any plastic bags could not be brought inside the area in its bid to promote cleanliness in the area.

The trust says the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is currently running a Pashupati cleanliness campaign every Saturday, and the decision to ban plastic bags is a part of this.

The campaign will run for three months, the trust says asking everyone to contribute and cooperate.
