An Indian national was arrested along with 141 kilos of marijuana from the Nepal-India border in Birgunj a couple of days ago.

Om Prakash Singh (27), from East Champaran, Motihari of Bihar, was caught from the border area on the charge of his involvement in the smuggling of the narcotics.

Acting on a tip-off, police took a parked truck with an Indian number plate under control and confiscated the contraband, according to DSP Deepak Giri, the Parsa District Police Office information officer.

The arrested is under investigation following permission from the Parsa District Court.

The production, transportation, sale and use of marijuana are illegal in Nepal despite demands for allowing its use at least for medicinal purposes.
