The Supreme Court has issued a directive to the government to review the Gurkha recruitment deal.

The Supreme Court has issued a directive after a writ petition was filed demanding the Gurkha recruitment be abolished.

Padam Limbu, chair British Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen’s Organization, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court demanding the cancellation of the 1947 agreement.

Since then, Nepali have been recruited into the British army based on the tripartite agreement between Nepal, India and Britain.

The organisation demanded that the contract should be cancelled saying that it was unequal in nature.
