Kathmandu, November 9
At least six persons died in a magnitude-6.6 earthquake in the Doti district of far-western Nepal in the wee hours of Wednesday.
DSP Bhola Prasad Bhatta, the acting chief of the Doti District Police Office, says these locals of Thadagaun, Purbichauki rural municipality-3, died, being buried in the rubble of the collapsed houses.
Five persons of the same village have sustained injuries and they are undergoing treatment at a local health facility, according to Bhatta.
The earthquake reduced at least eight houses to rubble in the village.
The earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale was recorded at 2:12 am today with its epicentre in Khaptad National Park. Before this, another earthquake of magnitude-5.7 was recorded at 9:07 pm yesterday, with the epicentre nearby.
