The Kathmandu District Court has extended rape-accused cricket star Sandeep Lamichhane’s remand by four more days.
As police presented him before the court on Wednesday, the court handed down the extension, according to SP Dinesh Mainali, the spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Range.
The time allowed for the police to keep him in custody expired yesterday, but the investigation to forward the case to the attorney’s office has not been over yet. Hence, the police wanted to keep him in custody for the next few days.
According to a police source, Lamichhane in his statements with police has denied the rape charge although he accepts he was with the girl that day.

October 10: Lamichhane gets remanded for seven days to let the police continue the investigation.
October 13: The remand is extended by five days.
October 19: The remand is extended by four days again.
