The curfew clamped in the Bhangaha municipality in the Mahottari district stays intact for preventing religious harmony from being disturbed, the District Administration Office says.
The office on Thursday issued a curfew order, for an indefinite period, in designated areas around the Padariya settlement in Bhangaha-8 to control a riot. The curfew continues today as well.
Movement of people in groups and entry of people from other places have been prohibited in the areas where the curfew has been imposed, reads the curfew order issued by Chief District Officer Deepak Kumar Pahadi.
The administration resorted to the move in a bid to contain the tension that flared up following a clash between two groups of people.
CDO Pahadi has urged the political parties, representatives of social organisations and the members of the general public in the district to cooperate to prevent the situation from flaring up.
