Design and display
Oppo Reno 8 Pro flaunts an eye-catching design. It has a glass front with an aluminium frame build. The side of the phone has flat edges, which is more frequently seen and is trending these days. The back panel houses a newly designed squarish-shaped camera module that elevates from the back panel. Similarly, the notification light around the camera panel seen on the Reno 7 series has been abandoned this time by the Reno 8 series.
The phone weighs around 183 grams and is just 7.34mm thick, making it comfortable on the hands. The phone is available in Glazed black and Glazed green colours.
The Oppo Reno 8 Pro features a 6.70-inch AMOLED panel on the front. The panel has a resolution of 1,080*2,412 pixels with 394 PPI density. Furthermore, the panel also supports 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate and HDR10+ feature for smooth and dynamic view. The display can also achieve a peak brightness of up to 950 nits, which means the content should be pretty much visible even during the daytime. Furthermore, there is an in-display fingerprint sensor on the phone for biometrics. Although the display has Gorilla Glass 5 protection there is no mention of IP certification.
Cameras
Oppo Reno 8 Pro has similar camera specifications to that of Reno 7 Pro. The phone features a triple camera sensor on the back while has a single camera sensor on the front. The main 50MP camera sensor on the back is accompanied by an 8MP, 112- degrees ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front is a 32MP selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.4 and HDR feature.
The camera shares similar photography and videography features to its predecessors. The main camera can record videos in 4K resolution videos at 30 fps while it can record 1080p resolution videos up to 120 fps. The previous model of the phone only supported video stabilisation in 1080p resolution at 30fps. But, hopefully, there is an upgrade on this model.
For the front camera, it can record 1080p resolution videos at 30 fps and features gyro-EIS.
Performance and storage
Oppo Reno 8 Pro gets a massive boost on performance. The phone runs on ColorsOS 12.1 based on the latest Android 12. Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX (5nm) chipset, the graphics on the phone are handled by Arm Mali-G610 MC6. The gamers have plenty to enjoy from this phone as the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX is said to be a total gaming package delivering epic mobile gaming and high-speed connectivity with immersive audio and visuals.
Oppo Reno 8 Pro comes with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM coupled with UFS 3.1 256GB of internal storage. There is also no option of expanding the storage as the phone does not support any sort of external memory cards. There is an Ultra-conductive cooling system on the phone that uses five types of cooling materials. This will help the phone to maintain the temperature even during intensive gaming.
Battery life, connectivity and others
Oppo Reno 8 Pro features a 4,500 mAh non-removable li-po battery. It gets a faster 80W charger this time around that can get the phone fully charged in just 31 minutes. With only 10 minutes of charging, the battery can get 45 per cent of the charge. With a power-efficient chipset, the battery on the phone should last for days under normal use. The battery should also last well even under extreme use. Anyways, battery backup should not be a problem on this phone as it gets full in no time. It can also be used to charge other phones as it supports reverse charging as well.
Connectivity options on the phone include 5G cellular connectivity, dual-band Wifi and Wifi 6 for faster internet connection. While the phone is NFC-enabled, it also features Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless connection with other devices and uses a USB Type-C 2.0 for charging and wired connections. The phone does not have 3.5mm headphones but features stereo speakers.
Notable features on Oppo Reno 8 Pro are:
