Design and display
Honor X8 has a glass front, plastic back and a plastic frame build. The plastic back on the phone has a neat finish. There is a square-shaped camera module on the back and an HONOR branding at the bottom. The minimalistic design on the back has made the looks of the phone neat. Similarly, the back panel also offers different textures according to the colour variant of the phone. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the phone for biometrics.
Honor X8 is a lightweight phone that weighs about 177 grams and is only 7.45mm thick. The phone is available in titanium silver, ocean blue and midnight black colour variants.
The front of the phone looks splendid. Thanks to its 93.6% screen with super narrow bezels, the user can have a better viewing experience. The 6.70-inch IPS LCD display has a resolution of 1,080*2,388 pixels and 391 PPI density. For a smooth experience, the display supports an adaptive 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate.
Cameras
Honor X8 features a square-shaped camera panel on the back that houses four camera sensors along with an LED flash. This is a similar setting that is seen these days on smartphones of this price category. The main 64MP camera is housed together with a 5MP ultrawide and a couple of 2MP depth and macro sensors. Nothing so exciting here, but it provides you with a decent performance. On the front is a 16MP selfie shooter that can also be used for face unlock features.
The camera features on the phone include wide angle lens, aperture, night, portrait (including beauty mode), pro, panorama, HDR, filter, stickers, time-lapse photography, super macro, high-res and capture smile.
Both cameras on the phone are capable of capturing 1080p resolution videos at 30fps. These are the same camera specifications as seen on the expensive version, Honor X9.
Performance and storage
Honor X8 runs on Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 (6nm) chipset and the graphical duties are handled by Qualcomm’s Adreno 610. Again, this is the same specification seen on Honor X9.
For storage, only a single variant of the phone is available in Nepal. The phone is available with 6GB of RAM coupled with 128 GB of internal storage. There is no option for memory expansion on this phone as well. However, the RAM can be expanded by 2GB which can be helpful during gaming or using multiple apps at once.
Battery life, connectivity and others
Honor X8 features a 4,000mAh non-removable li-po battery. This is mediocre power compared to the smartphones of the same price category. The battery gets charged through a 22.5W fast charging. The company has advertised that 10 minutes of charge can provide up to three hours of video playback time; this is the only measurement company has provided so far.
The phone supports dual sims with 4G network connectivity. It also supports dual-band wifi. It uses Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless pairing while using a USB Type-C 2.0 cable for charging and wired connectivity. For the audio, it features a loudspeaker and unlike Honor X9, it provides a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Notable features of Honor X8 are:
- Lightweight body
- 7.45mm thick
- 93.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio
- 90Hz refresh rate
- Power efficient 6nm chipset
- 64MP quad-camera setup
- Ram turbo features
- 22.5W Honor Supercharge
The price of Honor 8 is Rs 29,990.
