Kathmandu, July 26
The government has appointed famous (and also notorious) actor Bhuwan KC as the chairman of the Film Development Board, the government authority responsible for the development of the country’s film industry.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday evening made the decision, informs a source.
Earlier, a government-commissioned team had shortlisted 10 candidates from among several applicants for the top job.
It is noteworthy that Bhuwan KC, who supported the main opposition CPN-UML for a long time, joined Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s Nepali Congress party a few months ago. Then also, it was interpreted that KC changed the side to land the board job.
KC is one of the most controversial characters in the Nepali film industry. An actress accused him of sexual harassment in 2020, and the issue is not settled yet.
