Govt to reduce fuel taxes by Rs 10 per litre

Kathmandu, May 27

Owing to protests and criticisms over the recent fuel price hike, the government is finally preparing to reduce fuel taxes by Rs 10 per litre.

Recently, the government has increased the price of petrol, diesel, kerosene, cooking gas and aviation fuel, for the second time in the fortnight, inviting protests from stakeholders.

Following that, the council of ministers allowed the Ministry of Finance to decrease the fuel taxes by Rs 10 lived on each litre of petrol and diesel.

“The final decision is yet to be made,” informs a source at the ministry.

The source says the government will reduce Rs 5 from the infrastructure tax and Rs 5 from the customs charge.
