2 killed in wee-hour road accidents in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, March 27

Two persons died in different road accidents in the Kathmandu valley in the early morning on Sunday.

A police constable died in a motorbike accident in Balkhu of Kathmandu at around 2 am this morning, according to police.

The victim has been identified as Naveen Neupane (31), a resident of Dhading, and currently posted at the Metropolitan Police Circle in Satdobato of Lalitpur.

Meanwhile, another policeman Suman Singh, a resident of Tanahun, was also riding the bike (Ba 83 Pa 8985). He has sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.

In another accident, a pedestrian died after being hit by a car in Gaushala of Kathmandu at around 5:30 this morning.

The man who appears to be in his mid-30s sustained serious injuries after being hit by the vehicle (ba 20 Cha 7121) and was rushed to the Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal. Doctors declared him dead during treatment at around 7:45 am today.

Police say the victim in the second of the road accidents is yet to be identified.
