Tribhuvan University warns its teachers, staff against fighting party polls

Kathmandu, December 23

Tribhuvan University, the biggest academic institution of Nepal, has warned its teachers and staff against fighting any election within political parties.

Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the university says its attention was drawn to recent news reports that the university’s staff including teachers have participated in general conventions of various parties.

If anyone is found to have been involved in such activities, the university says action will be taken against the university rules. The rules require the university staff to resign at least 15 days before involving in a party’s election process.

Earlier, when the Nepali Congress general convention was underway, the Supreme Court had barred government school teachers from voting in internal elections of political parties.
