Tribhuvan University part-time teachers launch fresh protests

Kathmandu, November 29

Part-time teachers of the Tribhuvan University have launched fresh protests demanding the university implement an agreement signed with them earlier.

Around five months ago, the university had signed an agreement to recruit them on contract. However, the teachers launched a new round of agitation complaining the biggest academic institution in the country failed to implement the deal.

Gokul Limbu, the chairperson of the part-time teachers’ central struggle committee, says the teachers have been staging sit-ins at the university whereas they also submitted a memorandum to the university officials.

“If the problem is not solved in the next two days, we will make sterned protest programmes.”

As many as 580 teachers working for the past three years have not been given service contracts, according to the agitators.
