Nepal Covid-19 tally: 259 new cases, 264 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 916,609 as of Monday afternoon.

The ministry said 259 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,231 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 243 returned positive. Likewise, 2,657 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 16 tested positive.

Of total tests, 3.36 per cent of the PCR and 0.60 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.61 per cent.

As of today, there are 6,944 active cases across the country. Of them, 403 are hospitalised, 159 in intensive care units and 37 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 264 people have achieved recovery whereas one death has been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 802,653 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,524 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 144,534 people were vaccinated today.
