Dhangadhi, November 28
Locals in the Ghodaghodi municipality in the Kailali district of Sudurpaschim have obstructed a section of the East-West Highway after a truck hit a man, who died during treatment after a few hours.
The vehicle (Lu 1 Kha 4666) had hit Basanta Raj Sharma (50), a resident of Belar, Ghodaghodi-1, who was riding on a motorbike (Sudurpaschim 01-008 Pa 5475) at Dokebajaar, Ghodaghodi.
The Provincial Police Office says enraged locals, following the accident, obstructed the road by burning tyres on the road, demanding action against the truck driver and compensation to the victim’s family.
The road is blocked since early Sunday morning, leaving several vehicles stuck halfway.
Police have confiscated the truck, but its driver is on the run.
