Kailali, October 31
Two people drowned while bathing in a river in the Kailali district on Saturday.
Dhananjay Nisad (13), son of Narendra Nisad of Dhusi in Bhajani municipality-3, and Arabindra Chaudhary (10), son of Laikaram Chaudhary of the same locality, drowned while bathing in the Kadan River, says DSP Pratik Bista of the District Police Office.
A police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Bhajani, with the help of locals, retrieved the bodies from the river.
Of late, children drowning has become a regular affair in Nepal due to the lack of safety measures, insufficient recognition of the problem, and children’s inability to swim among other reasons.
