Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G in Nepal: Time will tell if people pay more for not-yet-realised 5G network

Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is the latest addition to the 5G smartphone from Samsung in Nepal. Along with Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, the company also recently launched Galaxy F42 and Galaxy M52 in the 5G variant in Nepal. This can be an indication that Samsung is focusing on the future and is on the verge of transitioning its 4G smartphones to 5G.

Samsung has already released Galaxy A52 earlier this year, but it was a 4G variant and now with some upgrades, it has re-released the 5G variant of the same phone. The new phone, maybe excitingly supports the 5G network, which is yet to be realised in Nepal, but is more expensive than the previous version by over Rs 10,000. The memory can be further extended with a microSDXC card. There is no dedicated slot for the microSDXC card, and you will have to sacrifice one of the sim card slots for the memory card.

Connecting the phone, it supports a 5G network, Wi-Fi 802.11, dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC enabled and USB Type-C 2.0. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone for audio connectivity.

Verdict

This is yet another 5G smartphone from Samsung with a price hike. The base Galaxy A52 cost Rs 43,000 when released while the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G costs Rs 53,999 which is Rs 10,999 more. Most of the specifications on the phone are identical; design, dimensions, cameras. The major upgrade A52s 5G has is it supports a 5G network and has a better processor as well as better graphics, but the difference is not very significant. The 5G network looks promising, but again, Nepal has no access to the network yet and it is pretty much unlikely to have access soon in the coming days.

But then again, Samsung has its own fan following in the market and only time will tell how these phones will fare in the market. The hike in the price can be a major issue though.
