Nepal Covid-19 tally: 591 new cases, 664 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 905,776 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 591 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,848 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 527 returned positive. Likewise, 2,507 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 90 tested positive.

Of total tests, 5.95 per cent of the PCR and 2.55 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 5.20 per cent.

As of today, there are 10,236 active cases across the country. Of them, 822 are hospitalised, 248 in intensive care units and 81 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 664 people have achieved recovery whereas two deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 789,789 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,382 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.3 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 101,475 people were vaccinated today.
