Bhaktapur: Man arrested with Rs 8 million cash as he can’t mention the source

Kathmandu, October 21

Police in the Bhaktapur district of the Kathmandu valley have arrested a man in possession of Rs 8 million in cash as he could not mention the source of the money.

The suspect has been identified as Chitra Bahadur Pun (36), a permanent resident of Pandavkhani, Galkot municipality-10 of the Baglung district, currently residing in Koteshwar of the capital.

During a regular check on the road nearby the Manahara Eye Hospital in Lokanthali of Bhaktapur on Wednesday evening, police had found Rs 3 million in cash under the seat of the scooter (Ba 49 Pa 8565) that he was riding on. Following that, he had revealed he had Rs 5 million in cash at his residence.

Police have handed over the suspect to the Department of Money Laundering Investigation for further investigation.
