Nepal Covid-19 tally: 834 new cases, 1,279 recoveries, 9 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 881,939 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 834 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,589 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 730 returned positive. Likewise, 5,147 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 104 tested positive.

Of total tests, 8.49 per cent of the PCR and 2.02 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 6.07 per cent.

As of today, there are 17,813 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,329 are hospitalised, 368 in intensive care units and 120 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,279 people have achieved recovery whereas nine deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 761,154 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,096 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.1 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 102,301 people were vaccinated today.
