Bibeksheel Sajha on the verge of split again with 2 sides calling different meetings

The Bibeksheel Sajha Party is on the verge of split again with two factions calling central committee meetings to discuss different issues.

With the party’s chief Rabindra Mishra making public a “personal” political proposal demanding the discontinuation of federalism and a referendum on secularism, the party has virtually split as another group of leaders led by the party coordinator Milan Pandey protested it with another document.

In this context, Mishra summoned the party’s central committee meeting for Thursday to discuss contemporary political issues. Pandey initially demanded Mishra withdraw the call claiming it was against the spirit of party unification, but later he also called another meeting for the same day.

The party was formed out of the merger between the then Bibeksheel Nepali and Sajha Party in the run-up to the 2017 parliamentary elections. However, they had split in early January 2019 to re-merge again in December 2020.
