Kathmandu, May 27
Hoteliers have demanded that the government announce a tourism sector resilience plan in the annual budget announcement to be unveiled this weekend.
They say the hotel industry was trying to recover the pace slowly, but the new variant’s spread has hit it back, adding the government should added their concern.
Shreejana Rana, the president of the Hotel Association Nepal, says the government should not compare this sector with other industries because it is directly connected to human activities and the world. Because the second is multidimensional and it will affect other social and economic sectors, she says the government should accordingly protect it.
The organisation of hoteliers says the government should declare the sector as the ‘severely affected’ industry and focus on its protection and promotion.
HAN says the government should ensure employment guarantee of hotel workers also.
