Govt halts driving licence application collection across Nepal

Kathmandu, April 27

The Department of Transport Management says it will no longer collect applications for driving licences from Thursday until the next notice.

The department’s spokesperson Lok Nath Bhusal says the decision has been made so as to avoid the risk of the coronavirus spread as the country has entered the second wave of the pandemic recently.

During this period, the online system developed to collect the applications will be shut.

The government had halted collecting applications last year also after the spread of the virus. The process had resumed in December 2020 after nine months.
