Lambodar Neupane remanded in custody for 1 week

Kathmandu, November 27

The then chairperson of Nepal Engineering College, Lambodar Neupane, has been remanded in custody for one week.

The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had arrested him in Kathmandu on Wednesday on the charge of defrauding people of Rs 37.1 million.

In February 2019, a member of the Commission of the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Raj Narayan Pathak, was found to have received Rs 7.8 million as bribe from Neupane. Following the revelation, Pathak had resigned from the constitutional anti-corruption watchdog so as to avoid impeachment.

The CIB says the Kathmandu District Court has allowed the police to detain him for one week for further investigation.
