Chinese defence minister coming to Nepal this Sunday

Kathmandu, November 28

Chinese Defence Minister and State Councilor Wei Fenghe is coming to Nepal this Sunday on a one-day official visit, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Wei is coming to Nepal two days after Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla concluded his two-day visit to Nepal. According to analysts, visits of high officials of two giant neighbours suggest the strategic importance they have given to Nepal.

The Chinese guest is scheduled to meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa tomorrow, according to the ministry’s statement issued on early Saturday morning.

He will leave Kathmandu on Sunday evening itself.
